More about Comfort Cove® Radiant Heater - 47" - 240 Volt

Mount this 47" 240 Volt Comfort Cove Radiant Heater 2 1/2" to 4" below the ceiling, so the radiant panel directs heat downward across the room, without being blocked by obstacles. This radiant heater comes with easy-to-install mounting brackets and the 1/2" conduit knockouts make installation simple.

How Radiant Heat Works

Radiant heat does not rise like hot air, instead, it heats anything in its path - up, down, or sideways - traveling in a straight line until it strikes an object. It is unaffected by gravity, and will not fluctuate temperature. This efficient heating alternative warms floors and objects, as well as the air in a room, similar to the way the sun heats the earth. As objects in the room become warm - chairs, floors, people - the surrounding air picks up heat by conduction and the entire room maintains a constant comfortable warmth.

Radiant Heat Works

Bought this 47” 240/60/1 heater to supplement a 30 SF residential bathroom with tile floors, drywall walls and mortar bed full tile stall shower. The bathroom is supported by ample forced air heat with ceiling mounted exhaust fan. Two of the walls are insulated exterior types with cold exposure. Heater control via Honeywell, Line voltage programmable thermostat located on interior wall. Upon activation, the heater raised the interior temp from 66 to 76 degrees in 2 hours. Regulation is spot-on. Surface panel near the ceiling of The Cove heater may be 95 degrees during operation which is fine. Great solution to supplement a bathroom with dense surfaces in 60’s style construction techniques. Visually looks great too.

Works Great

Installed a 47 inch cove heater as supplemental heat source. Can feel the radiant heat within 15 minutes of the unit turning on and raised the temp in the room; 18 feet by 28 feet, 7 foot ceilings; in under 2 hours from 66 to 69 to 70 degrees. Very happy with this product.

Different, better heat

If one expects radiant heat to ‘feel like’ forced air, Comfort Cove won’t cut it. But sub-floor radiant heat won’t either. It takes a while to become accustomed to radiant heat because it isn’t ‘blast you in the face hot against a cold backdrop’ (e.g. laying beside a forced air outlet with a cold room behind you). Rather, it’s subtle and persistent like sun coming through a window on an early spring day (e.g. sitting on a sun-warmed rock on a cool breezy day). In both cases, energy is offsetting the absence of heat and thereby warming (that’s physics). Comfort Cove is silent, efficient, and...once used to it...natural (that’s science and, in a way, art).

Works like it supposed to

Easy installation and works like it supposed to work.

In Response to "Does Not Work!"

This sounds like the heaters were wired in Series instead of Parallel. If multiple heaters are wired in series the panels will simply get warm but not warm enough to heat the room. We are available from 8AM -5PM CST to assist with any installation questions!
