Freeze-thaw testing shows there is no loss of hydrogen peroxide and no change to the formulation that would affect the microbial efficacy. Under freezing conditions, the formulation does not separate into different phases, and therefore would not have any negative effect in the wipes format either. To conclude, freezing does not compromise the efficacy of the product once thawed and used at room temperature.
The formulations may freeze in certain temperatures, so it is recommended they are stored at 59° - 86° F) if possible. However, if freezing were to occur, the formulations would likely be okay to use once thawed as long as:
- There are no solids (crystals, etc.) in the solution
- They still produce a PASS when test strips are used for concentrate.
- If frozen, the consumer should ideally thaw, shake & test with test strips if it's a concentrate
