Waters well

Drilled a hole into a paint bucket and slid the clear tubing in. It leaked a tiny bit initially, but the tubing eventually molded to the drill site by the following day and no leakage was found. The bucket is outside the coop and makes watering the birds way too easy. The water stays clean and the bucket provides a larger reservoir than my previous hanging water feeder. I was worried my three grown hens wouldn’t take to it, but within 30 minutes they were already exploring and drinking from it.

A situational drinker

I wanted to really like these drinker nipples. Not a chickens preferred means of getting water by any means. As soon as I had them trained on it I had to put out an additional 1/2 gallon regular waterer, they all stopped using the nipples completely (bird brains). You will have to turn supply off and open the bleeders if conditions are freezing, otherwise the nipples will bust off and destroy the O-rings. I mention both of these things to prepare a potential buyer that plans to use this drinker in freezing conditions. You will need a alternative drinker and the birds may not come back to the nipples. I've had much better luck with the Plasson Broiler drinker.

Not for brooding

I bought four of these for a battery brooder I put together, two out of the four leak like sieves, and the other two are about half that. Worst experience I’ve had with any chick waterer.

Excellent

I built my own of this and could never get it to stop leaking. Bought this and installed it in minutes. My chicken loves it, and it puts my mind at ease knowing I don't have to worry about her running out of water on those hot Texas days. I also bought the adapter and a food grade 5 gallon bucket with gamma lid (from Lowe's) and it is perfect.

Easy to setup and took our chicks all of five minutes to start using it. Excellent product, highly recommend this.
