I have 2 a five and seven gallon. I bought them used and have had them 8 years so they were used 9 years. Still work well, but as stated they need to be kept level or the water siphons out! They do get allege in them if exposed to the sun so I keep mine in the shade with the top covered too. Soak in vinegar and bleach and all clean!
I have multiple Waterers and I have not had one problem with them. I hang mine from a bunge cord and set it on bricks. I can look over and see if it is coming off the brick to let me know it is getting low. I have had mine for over 6 years and I am just now ordering new sealers for them
This is a terrible design. It can't be hung because it won't stay perfectly level. If it is not perfectly level, it overflows. I tried sitting it on top of bricks, but again, it is hard to get level and the birds are more likely to soil the water this way. Further, the top is not designed in a way that prevents the birds from sitting on top of it and soiling their water with droppings. I would not recommend this waterer.
I had a one gallon chicken waterer prior to this one and it worked fine, but i wanted one that would go longer without me having to fill it up every few days so i purchased this one.
It worked fine for the first couple months until today. When I went to take off the top to refill it the cap split in half, leaving me with an upper and lower piece, and rendering the waterer unusable! This made me very angry as i would of expected this thing to last for more than two months but i guess its just a heap of plastic now.
I have two (2) seven gallon and (2) five gallon Little Giant® Plastic Poultry Waterers. I also have many other Miller Manufacturing Little Giant® products.
These waterers are clearly designed with experience driving the design. They work well, they take the daily abuse without issue and I think anyone having poultry will find these an asset to their operations/farm/FFA Project.
