More about Spray-Proof Skunk Trap™

Catch skunks humanely without getting sprayed. The Spray-Proof Skunk Trap™ is made of 6" PVC pipe. Its small size prevents skunks from lifting their tails to spray and also prevents scratching and biting. It is opaque, so your catch is invisible to anything passing by. This trap is simple to use for homeowners as well as animal control specialists. Spring-loaded to prevent environment-related misfires. It is the safest trap available for skunks, squirrels, cats, rabbits, opossums and other similarly sized animals.

very good skunk trap

Caught a medium size skunk first night I set it. Wasn't sure if it was long enough for the larger skunks because had problems with it not going off when marshmellows were taken and going off with nothing in it. Soon learned how to set properly and caught the big ones too without them spraying.

The best skunk trap available

This trap works very well. This is the 2nd one I've purchased. The original was purchased direct from JT 10 years ago, The original caught 12 skunks. This one caught 4 skunks in a 9 day period. Only had the bait picked 2 times. I just slide the rod an 1/8" back to set the door to slam shut w/ the slightest plate pressure. I use fish flavored cat food smeared on bread or cooked chicken bones & skin. Great product. Thank you.

Save your money!

How some people say this design is brilliant..I do not know! And the one review that says he got a lemon..NOPE it is poor design. Instead of having the rod pull back, it makes the rod go forward towards the door, which makes it even harder for the pedal to work. Instead of making an L shaped wire to set the trap..this thing has a bolt!???? I have put wax on the trap, grease, etc. There was a time when companies tested their item. Now, they don't care, as long as they get your money. This genius could not even weld a couple of pieces of metal to the sides of the trap to keep it from rolling over. We shouldn't have to alter the trap to make it work! I thought that was your job! AND the bolt is not even centered on the hole that trips the trap..making even more friction! There is overpriced and then there is this trap!

Trap needed counter-weight of 1# on bait trap to work.

Brilliant concept, but I think we got a lemon of a trap. The bait-pan need more than a pound of force to trip the door closed, and our skunk was not that heavy. Two nights the skunk took the bait (licked the peanut butter from off the bait pan) and departed the trap without tripping it. The third night I put a flat rock heaped with peanut butter (combined weight 1 pound!) on the bait trap, and we caught the skunk that night. QC responded quickly to my first questions, then next when I said we had a lemon-of-a-trip offered to replace it, but we had already solved the problem with the rock-counterweight. So I can honestly recommend this trap. I just wish they had given us more detailed instructions about what was required to get it to work.

It works!

I had doubts on the trap, but first time I used it I caught a big skunk that decided to live under a barn foundation. I used peanut butter as bait smeared on the trip plate.
