These are much more durable than your plastic nipples, which makes them a better choice for rabbits. As long as you install them with a correct size bit and use appropriate sized piping they work great. If you need a nipple for a bucket or something similar purchase the plastic nipples that come already assembled. For the people that gave this item a poor rating - you probably shouldn't be installing products like this as you obviously don't know how. Great overall product!
Ok, first of all, you need to THINK a little when you install a product. The reviewers that failed to figure out how to install this product must have failed 3rd grade.
DO NOT install these in a pipe that is large enough for the center section to fall into the pipe, DUH! LOL
These will last you MANY MANY years.
These are a no frill, no fuss, no mess, nipples. I am using in them in pvc pipe(s) to use as waterers for my rabbit and chickens. Yes I agree, there are no instructions, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to use them. Once placed into the pvc hole that I created, it was a tight fit, with no need for silicone or gaskets of any type. Also, if fitted properly, they will NOT come apart. I highly recommend them and they should last longer than the animals! LOL!!
My order came in a bag with no instructions. It's very hard to install and not drop out the pieces. It took a few tries before I got it set up right. The floaty part and weight should not come out on their own! This is such a pain to deal with. If they were fixed onto the nipple, it would make much more sense. I set up a watering system to collect water in a rain barrel to water my chickens. I then ran a PVC pipe in the chicken area and attached the nipples. They learned pretty quick to drink from the nipples. The next morning I went to check on things. They had pecked the nipples so hard that all of the pieces had come out the top of the nipple and fell into the PVC pipe. All of my water that I had collected into the barrel drained out. This product is not what I was hoping for. I would not buy these type of nipples.
First of all the nipples come in a bag un-assembled with no instructions on how to put them together. Second, there is no rubber washer or anything to seal off the water so I had to use silicone. Third there isn't anything to hold, what I call the valve and the weight, from coming out when the chickens peck it. So when they peck it the weight pops out then the nipple and all of your water runs out. I do not recommend this product. I am returning mine.
