More about The Shepherd's Choice Selenium & Iodine Premix + Vitamin E Booster - 5 lb Bag

A must before breeding and before lambing to aid in the prevention of white muscle disease and to boost reproduction, The Shepherd's Choice Vitamin E/Se/I Premix with TM has no added copper. This five-pound bag is a Selenium and Iodine premix, along with other essential trace minerals, plus a Vitamin E booster to make a trace mineral (TM) salt to be offered free choice.

Features

  • Veterinarian formulated
  • Provides adequate Selenium & Iodine
  • Provides Vitamin E for wintertime & dry lot feeding
  • For goats, mix with cattle trace mineral salt to provide copper

Guaranteed Analysis

  • Iodine (I), min 1.0%
  • Selenium (Se), min 4,500 ppm
  • Vitamin E, min 100,000 IU/lb

How To Use

  • Feed year round for a healthy flock
  • Mix 1 lb with 50 lb of plain salt to provide 200 ppm of iodine, 88 ppm of selenium & 1,960 mgs of Vitamin E per pound of mixed salt
  • Feed mix salt to sheep at a rate of 0.25 ounces (7 grams) per head, per day
  • The maximum feeding rate of the mixed salt is 8 grams per head per day
  • This level of Vitamin E provides roughly 30 IU of E per ewe per day with 0.25 ounce intake
  • For goat use, mix with cattle trace mineral salt to provide copper

Tips:

  • All of Premier’s premixes include the essential trace minerals needed for well-being of sheep and goats. But Dr. Morrical’s GOLD Formula Premixes build on the work done by Dr. Kennedy of Pipestone Veterinary Services by increasing the levels of zinc and iodine to promote healthier hooves, animal growth and reproduction. These premixes also contain additional selenium (to the maximum level allowed by the FDA), manganese, and cobalt to maximize flock health and immunity.
  • For goats, copper has been increased with no added molybdenum (ties up copper) for better milking production. Goats should not receive molybdenum because it increases the chance of copper deficiency.
