TORRENT™ Wireless Rain Gauge
More about TORRENT™ Wireless Rain Gauge
A must-have for accurate rainfall measurements, the TORRENT Wireless Rain Gauge records rainfall up to 99.999". It then may be reset to display the rainfall total. Digital and wireless, this electronic self-emptying rain gauge allows the rainfall to flow into the top of the gauge and measures and records it as it exits the bottom.
To use, simply place the rain gauge outdoors on a hard, level surface or mount it to a fence with the TORRENT Wireless Rain Gauge Mounting Bracket, QC Part #10967, sold separately. Requires one "AA" battery, included.
Have gone through a few of these as they don't last forever in our harsh desert environment. Aside from that, they have performed well for me over the years. However, the last two we bought simply do not work. Side-by-side comparison with two co-located gauges, one electronic and one an old-fashioned type consisting of a collection tube with markings, shows *both* Torrent gauges are miscalibrated by roughly a factor of two. They don't even agree with each other! Contacting the manufacturer was no good. I was given a run-around about cleaning the unit, which I had already done, and even though one of the units was way off right out of the box. I don't know what changed, but I can only recommend to stay away from this product. Both quality control and customer support is non-existent.
My fourth in maybe 25 years. Really like torrent a lot.
Two years old this month. It's balanced properly it's been cleaned out carefully. I am very disappointed and can't seem to get an answer on why it stopped working. A little too expensive for something that only lasts two years according to other reviews I have read! I could've gotten a cheap one for 19.99. My neighbour has one and it's five years old and still working
I am fortunate to have a government RAWS rain gauge only a mile from my home to compare readings. After I installed the gauge according to instructions, we had a heavy storm here that dropped more than 4 inches of rain over two days. The Torrent showed 1.7 inches. Way off. I returned it for a refund.
Very good rain gauge except you have to go outside to read the measurement.
